Vilofoss has launched its MYCOSAFE range to help reduce the impact of key mycotoxins in livestock feed. The company notes that the solutions are designed to support stable production across pigs, poultry and ruminants despite fluctuating raw material quality.
Mycotoxins are an often underestimated risk in modern livestock production. Invisible to the eye and variable from batch to batch, these toxins produced by molds in feed ingredients can weaken animals’ immune systems, reduce feed efficiency, and in severe cases lead to illness or losses.
Vilofoss, a global supplier in the premix and nutrition sector, has introduced a new range of toxin binders developed and tested in Denmark and across Europe. The company stated that the new MYCOSAFE range is designed to help reduce the impact of the most relevant mycotoxins in pigs, poultry, and ruminants, supporting stable production even when raw material quality fluctuates.
“The mycotoxin profile varies from batch to batch of raw materials. With MYCOSAFE, customers get a solution that is easy to dose, and independent laboratory tests confirm it helps mitigate the impact of the most relevant toxins,” says Jacob Dall, Innovation Manager at Vilofoss.
According to the statement, when used as part of the daily feeding strategy, MYCOSAFE supports feed quality management in practice, offering easier handling for producers and better conditions for maintaining consistent productivity.
“Farmers need confidence in stable production levels, even when mycotoxins occasionally appear in feed,” Jacob Dall adds.
PROVEN PERFORMANCE IN THE FIELD
Feedback from farms already using MYCOSAFE highlights its practical value under real production conditions.
“It was a good combination for us to use MYCOSAFE during a period when we were feeding corn silage from last year’s harvest. The cows remained stable throughout this period,” says Søren Madsen, Skjern.
At Gammelbygård, owner John Nicolaisen reports reduced sow mortality and slightly improved appetite in the farrowing barn when switching to MYCOSAFE.
In Germany, the Baun family observed a clear increase in productivity in their slaughter pig herd, allowing them to deliver pigs to the slaughterhouse more than a week earlier than usual.
INNOVATION BUILT ON RESEARCH AND EXPERIENCE
“The launch of MYCOSAFE marks an important step in our commitment to innovative feed solutions,” says Bøje S. Kjær, EVP, Animal Nutrition, DLG Group. “I’m proud of the team that developed MYCOSAFE. We combined research and field data with our customers’ everyday experiences to create a solution that meets their most pressing needs. This is a great example of the innovation power we achieve when we collaborate across borders.”
ONE RANGE, THREE TARGETED SOLUTIONS
Vilofoss introduces its Three Targeted Solution under the One Range as follows:
• MYCOSAFE Core – Basic protection for all animal species under low to moderate toxin pressure.
• MYCOSAFE Plus – Designed for grain-based feeding, optimized for a broader toxin spectrum under moderate to high pressure.
• MYCOSAFE Algae – Developed for roughage-based diets, targeting toxins from storage and ensiling fungi.
