Veramaris has announced its new leadership team, including the appointment of Mark van Nieuwland as the incoming CEO, as the company enters its next growth phase.
Veramaris has unveiled that it is entering the next stage of its growth journey with new leadership, building on strong momentum and growing demand for sustainable, scalable sources of Omega-3 EPA & DHA. As the market continues to expand globally, Veramaris is reportedly helping to meet the industry’s rising expectations for predictable performance, secure supply, and growth without limits.
With algae oil now firmly established as a mainstream ingredient in aquafeed, Veramaris has stated that it is focused on unlocking new opportunities across the value chain. This next phase will see the company deepen its partnerships, expand its operational footprint, and continue to deliver immediate impact for customers seeking to secure supplies of essential Omega-3s from a certified sustainable source.
Since its inception, Veramaris highlights that its ambition has been to help aquaculture grow sustainably by closing the essential Omega-3 supply gap. As the company enters its next chapter, the focus is on scaling responsibly, supporting partners with reliable nutrition solutions, and enabling the industry to plan with greater confidence.
To support this strategic evolution, Veramaris has announced the following leadership changes:
• Mark van Nieuwland has been appointed as Veramaris CEO, succeeding Gertjan de Koning, effective January 1, 2026. van Nieuwland brings a strong entrepreneurial background to Veramaris and joined the company in early November to ensure a smooth handover.
• Holger Kinzel, who joined Veramaris at the same time as de Koning, will remain CFO/COO, as he has done successfully for the last three years.
• Ian Carr, currently Senior Director Global Marketing at Veramaris, has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), effective November 1. Carr has played a key role in the company’s success over the past seven years.
• Philip Eykerman, President Strategy, M&A and Transformation of dsm-firmenich, has succeeded Andre Bos as President Board Veramaris, effective November 1.
