One of the global leaders in food safety and provider of One Health Diagnostics® solutions, Hygiena®’s foodproof® Salmonella plus Cronobacter Detection LyoKit received two industry innovation awards at the International Dairy Federation’s World Dairy Summit 2025, held October 20-23 in Chile. The awards that Hygiena® won were the 2025 International Dairy Federation (IDF) Innovation Award and the Food Tech Summit Food Innovation Award. The company states that these recognitions underscore its role at the forefront of advancing One Health Diagnostics® and public health while delivering unparalleled efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Hygiena highlights the foodproof Salmonella plus Cronobacter Detection LyoKit as the first and only ISO-validated multiplex Real-time PCR method (ISO 16140-2) for detecting these two critical pathogens that pose serious health risks to infants. This validation ensures high accuracy across a range of matrices, including powdered infant formula (both with and without probiotics), related production ingredients and environmental samples from manufacturing facilities.

Historically, laboratories conducted individual food safety tests for each pathogen, leading to increased costs and delayed results. Hygiena states that its foodproof Salmonella plus Cronobacter Detection LyoKit solves this inefficiency by enabling the detection of both pathogens in a single test, with results in less than 20 hours. This innovation streamlines workflows and accelerates the time to results for infant formula producers and ingredient suppliers, simplifying environmental monitoring programs.

“At Hygiena, we are committed to delivering solutions that not only meet but exceed industry standards in food safety,” said Amanda Manolis, VP, Global Marketing, Product Management & Scientific Affairs at Hygiena. “By introducing the foodproof Salmonella plus Cronobacter Detection LyoKit, we are providing manufacturers with a faster, more cost-effective and highly reliable testing method that ensures compliance and safeguards consumers. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to ongoing innovation across the industry and underscores our efforts to equip customers with technologically advanced and efficient workflows. Protecting vulnerable populations from foodborne illness while advancing sustainability remains central to our mission to create innovative diagnostics for a healthier world.”

“I’m excited to share that Hygiena made a remarkable impact at the Food Tech Summit, where we received the Food Innovation Award in the Innovative Technology category. This award is a reminder of what we can achieve when we work together with a common goal, to continue innovating and helping make the world a safer, healthier place through our One Health Diagnostics® solutions,” remarked Adriana Paes, Marketing Manager, Hygiena.

In parallel with this recognition, Hygiena has announced that Lukas Weise, Global Market Development Manager at Hygiena, will serve as the Deputy Chair for Hygiene Monitoring at IDF. Lukas will contribute his scientific expertise to support industries on hygiene and microbiological contaminants, and assist Codex in adopting accurate, feasible standards, codes, and guidelines to ensure milk safety and quality. This contribution to industry innovation reportedly highlights Hygiena’s efforts as the world leader in hygiene monitoring, food safety and One Health Diagnostics®.
