Biochem secures EU approval for BetaTrace® Cu

Biochem has received EU approval for BetaTrace® Cu, completing its organic trace mineral portfolio. This approval enables the company to offer highly bioavailable zinc, copper, manganese, and iron solutions for all animal species.

Biochem secures EU approval for BetaTrace® CuBiochem has announced the EU approval of BetaTrace® Cu, which completes the company’s advanced range of organic trace minerals. According to the company, with this approval, the BetaTrace® portfolio offers a complete selection of the essential minerals, zinc, copper, manganese, and iron, solidifying BetaTrace® as a unique, patented solution for modern livestock farming.

“With EU approval secured, BetaTrace® Cu completes our next generation premium mineral portfolio—setting a new standard for excellence,” said Dr. Susanne Rothstein, Product Manager of Organic Minerals at Biochem. “Now we can offer our partners a complete range of organic trace minerals, all of which are bound to the metabolic powerhouse, betaine. This is the final piece that we have been eager to provide to the market.”

According to the information shared by Biochem, both betaine and trace minerals play vital roles in physiological metabolic processes. Betaine is an excellent methyl group donor, which is particularly crucial in protein and lipid metabolism. Trace minerals, on the other hand, serve as essential components or cofactors for numerous enzymes, vitamins, and hormones. Compared to conventional inorganic sources, such as oxides and sulfates, BetaTrace® significantly improves absorption by binding trace minerals to betaine. Moreover, BetaTrace® is able to bypass rumen degradation, making it an excellent source of betaine for ruminants.

Biochem notes that BetaTrace® is formulated to address the primary challenges of livestock farming, directly supporting productivity and welfare through:
• Immune support
• Oxidative stress reduction
• Gut integrity
• Energy metabolism

“With the addition of copper, we now have the complete toolkit to address the specific metabolic requirements of high-yielding and young animals,” Dr. Rothstein continues. “The 2 in 1 BetaTrace® intensively supports performance and health. We are thrilled to see the full potential of this product line unleashed in feed formulations across Europe.”

Biochem adds that BetaTrace® Zn, Cu, Mn and Fe are water soluble and is appropriate for use in vitamin-mineral premixes, compound feeds, or feed supplements for all animal species.
