Select Sires appoints new VP of Technical Initiatives and Innovation

US-based Select Sires Inc. has appointed Dr. Bo Harstine as the Vice President (VP) of Technical Initiatives and Innovation, where he will lead efforts that support the cooperative’s mission to maximize productivity, profitability and sustainability of livestock producers around the world.

Dr. Bo Harstine has  been appointed to Vice President of Technical Initiatives and Innovation at Select Sires Inc. He will focus on high-level scientific consulting and strategic planning, leading efforts that support the cooperative’s mission to maximize productivity, profitability and sustainability of livestock producers around the world.

Harstine will help to guide technical business initiatives across Select Sires Inc. and World Wide Sires, working closely with dairy solutions teams. He will serve as a key liaison to external partnerships while strengthening relationships and driving novel efforts that align with organizational priorities. In addition to these new responsibilities, Harstine will continue to oversee key projects within Select Sires’ research and development divisions.

Harstine joined Select Sires Inc. in 2017 after completing his PhD in animal science through the Select Sires Marshall Graduate Associateship continuing education program and in partnership with The Ohio State University. His career began under the mentorship of Mel DeJarnette and Clif Marshall, retired vice presidents of semen processing and research, and highly influential contributors to semen processing and reproductive technologies. In 2024, Harstine earned his MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, adding strategic leadership training to his scientific foundation.
