pHix-up app, a new tool for rumen acidity management

France-based TIMAB Magnesium has launched pHix-up app, a new digital tool for rumen acidity management. The app helps calculating the required dosage of pHix-up in relation to the acidogenic risk of the ration.

pHix-up app, a new tool for rumen acidity managementFive years after launching pHix-up, TIMAB Magnesium continues innovating and supplies its clients with an app; helping to calculate the required dosage of pHix-up in relation to the current buffer solutions and to the acidogenic risk of the ration.

Subclinical acidosis is a complex challenge for farmers, concerning at least 20% of dairy cows nowadays. But also finishing cattle face many diet changes with high levels of concentrates. Being able to better adapt pHix-up dosage to the acidogenic risk of the ration is an added value for rumen management and to specific challenging periods like heat stress, silo changes and early grazing.

pHix-up App allows:
1. MEASURE the neutralising capacity of the current buffer solution
2. EVALUATE the acidogenic risk of the ration
3. ADVISE and adapt pHix-up dosage for better performances!

pHix-up app has been developed in collaboration with Adventiel and is a free application for smartphones and tablets. The app is available on product’s website and is coming soon on Google Play and Apple Store.

TIMAB Magnesium developed pHix-up in 2017. Designed with unique industrial expertise, pHix-up acts directly on the rumen pH by neutralising the excess acid produced by bacterial fermentation thanks to its high neutralizing capacity (39mEq/g) and high solubility. It combines the best performing magnesium compounds providing both a fast acting and long-lasting effect on the rumen. With pHix-up, ruminal environment is improved which allows the ruminants to express their full potential with a better utilisation of energy-rich rations!

Based in France, TIMAB Magnesium – part of Groupe Roullier – is an innovative company offering magnesium-based solutions, with 40 years of global experience, and integrated mining facilities in Spain and Brazil.
