Nutreco CEO Fulco van Lede has announced that he will be stepping down from his role this summer after leading the company for the past three years. Nutreco explained that David Blakemore will succeed van Lede as CEO. In addition, Therese Log Bergjord, CEO of Skretting for the past seven years has announced her decision to step down, also in the summer.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Nutreco, and my many years as part of the SHV team, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together,” says Fulco van Lede. “It’s been a privilege to work alongside Nutreco’s passionate team as we tackle the challenge of sustainably feeding an ever-growing population. Yet, after 20 years at SHV, with the last 10 working at Board level, it is time for me to broaden my horizon.”
According to Nutreco’s statement, it is Fulco’s personal decision to step down as CEO. With effect from June 1, 2024, David Blakemore will succeed Fulco as CEO.
Blakemore joined Nutreco in 2022 as CEO of Trouw Nutrition, the company’s livestock feed business line, and member of Nutreco’s Management Board. He has over 30 years of experience nurturing customer relationships, driving the commercial and innovation agendas and guiding operations and has established a strong track record of delivering results and building strong teams.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead this great business and passionate team as we continue to deliver on our promise of ‘Feeding the Future’ and our ambition for the next phase of growth,” says David Blakemore.
SHV CEO Jeroen Drost comments, “We respect Fulco’s decision to step down and want to thank him for all his contributions to Nutreco and the wider SHV Family of Companies over the years and wish him all the best in the future. David’s experience in the industry and knowledge of the company makes him an excellent successor and the right leader to take the company forward to its next phase of growth.”
In addition, Therese Log Bergjord, CEO of Skretting, the company’s aquaculture business line has announced her decision to leave the company after seven years on June 1, 2024. Fulco says, “I want to thank Therese for her tremendous contributions to the company in the seven years during which she led Skretting. She leaves behind a strong team and a business well positioned to remain at the forefront of sustainable aquaculture.”
Bergjord reflects “I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time at Skretting and as part of the Nutreco leadership team. We’ve achieved so much and I will continue to champion sustainable aquaculture even as I move onto my next opportunity.” It is Bergjord’s personal decision to leave the company and she will be succeeded by Bastiaan van Tilburg, currently Managing Director for Trouw Nutrition Europe and Central Asia, Nutreco added.
David Blakemore will be succeeded by Eduardo Lopes Alberto who joined Nutreco in January 2024 as Vice President Global Innovation for Trouw Nutrition.
