Novus will be hosting an event during the Poultry Science Association’s (PSA) 2024 Latin American Scientific Conference on October 9, 2024. For the symposium, the company is bringing together industry experts to share their insights on the challenges and opportunities to improve meat quality.
High-quality meat means high profits for broiler producers. Aiming to support producers in their effort to grow top-quality birds, Novus has unveiled it is hosting a special symposium during the Poultry Science Association’s 2024 Latin American Scientific Conference. The event titled “A Holistic View on the Factors that Affect Saleable Meat: Challenges from Field to Processing” will take place during the industry event on October 9 in Iguazú Falls, Paraná, Brazil.
“Meat and carcass quality remains a key concern for poultry producers globally but especially in Latin America where the industry is growing more each year,” says Kelen Zavarize, Novus Technical Services Manager. “Ensuring good quality meat is necessary for the security of domestic and export markets. For this symposium, we’re bringing together industry experts to share their insights on the challenges and opportunities to improve meat quality.”
The symposium agenda includes presentations on skin quality and structural health, broiler house management, broiler market expectations, and battling Salmonella.
Rodrigo Bernardi, Novus’ Regional Business Manager for Brazil, says the symposium is a chance for producers and nutritionists to confirm what they are already doing correctly and identify areas where improvements can be made. “The symposium affirms that there is no one particular thing that can positively affect meat quality; it takes many parts working together. These presentations ultimately provide considerations for the producer who is asking themselves, ‘How do I improve the profitability of my operation?’” expresses Bernardi.
The Novus event will take place starting at 8:00 a.m. BRT on October 9, 2024, at Bourbon Cataratas do Iguaçu Thermas Eco Resort. It is open to all 2024 Latin American Scientific Conference attendees.
Gabriela Cardoso, Ph.D., Novus Poultry Solutions Manager for the Americas, will introduce the event. Also, the event will feature presentations by Liris Kindlein, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, on “Skin lesions that produce commendations of broiler carcasses: How to increase saleable meat”; Kelen Zavarize, Ph.D., Novus Technical Services Manager for Latin America, on “The secret of poultry health and welfare: Efficient broiler litter management”; Casey Owens, Ph.D., University of Arkansas Researcher and Poultry Science Professor, on “Defining saleable meat: Is it quantity or quality?”; Frances Yan, Ph.D., Novus Global Poultry Research Senior Manager, on “Structural problems and their effects on carcass quality”; and Nicolas Hénaff, DVM, poultry veterinarian, consultant and approved trainer with Resagro – RESEAU CRISTAL in France on “On Salmonella: Prevention, control and eradication strategies, feedback of the European experience”.
