Kalmbach Feeds commenced its popular Layer Days® event to celebrate the egg-laying season with a sweepstakes, educational resources, and a live webinar for backyard chicken keepers. The event takes place from August 1 to September 30, 2025.
US-based animal nutrition brand Kalmbach Feeds, Inc., relaunched their popular Layer Days® celebration, which is designed to delight current chicken keepers and entice new people to this rewarding hobby. What’s new in 2025 is a partnership with the Chicken Coop Company on the sweepstakes grand prize and a free live webinar with author and influencer Lisa Steele, a leading voice in backyard chicken keeping.
Layer Days is aligned with an explosive surge in backyard chicken keeping. Driven largely by the rising costs of eggs nationwide, there are now nearly 11 million homes enjoying the hobby, an increase of nearly 30% since 2023. Layer Days runs from August 1 to September 30, commemorating the exciting season when new chickens are beginning to lay their first eggs.

What used to be a niche interest has now blossomed into a full-blown movement, and we’re proud to be a part of raising these healthy and thriving flocks.” Brannigan mentioned that the popularity of raising backyard chickens has moved far beyond rural areas, with many of their products now serving a growing number of suburban and urban customers.
LAYER DAYS CELEBRATES ALL CHICKEN OWNERS
This year’s Layer Days event features Kalmbach’s largest sweepstakes to date. Participants will have the chance to win the grand prize of a year’s supply of Kalmbach Feeds Henhouse Reserve poultry feed and Henhouse Reserve Seasonal Treat Blocks, as well as a coop package from The Chicken Coop Company. According to the announcement, the impressive package includes a new Orpington Coop, an 8-foot by 6-foot walk-in run, and an automatic waterer system. Additional prize giveaways will be held each Monday on Kalmbach Feeds’ social media accounts, beginning August 4. Rules for entering these social media giveaways will be included in the post captions.
“Beyond the thrill of winning prizes, Layer Days is a valuable resource for both seasoned and aspiring chicken owners,” expressed Brannigan. “We’ll be underpinning the sweepstakes with new educational resources and tools.” These resources include a new Poultry Feed Finder tool on the Kalmbach Feeds website and a new self- guided Egg Layer educational course. The company will also be hosting a live webinar hosted by nutritionist Nancy Jefferson, Ph.D., from Kalmbach Feeds and backyard chicken keeping expert Lisa Steele.
