Germany-based company Amandus Kahl will be presenting its pioneering solutions at the 2025 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) from 28-30 January in Atlanta, USA. The company points out that these solutions demonstrate how modern approaches can improve feed processing and animal welfare.
The International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) is one of the world’s leading trade shows for the poultry, meat and feed industries. From 28 to 30 January 2025, the industry will meet at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, USA to exchange information on the latest technologies and innovations. Amandus Kahl has announced that during IPPE, it will present its pioneering solutions as a manufacturer of processing plants. The expander OE 23.2 and the crushing roller mill WSB 2040.2 with individual drive, among others, set new standards in efficiency, quality and sustainability, and impressively demonstrate how modern approaches can improve feed processing and animal welfare, according to the company’s statement.
The latest generation of the expander OE 23.2 from Amandus Kahl is extremely versatile, the company points out. It combines moisture, temperature and pressure to optimize the nutritional, hygienic and physical properties of animal feed. Treatment in the expander breaks down plant cells and effectively eliminates micro-organisms such as salmonella, significantly improving feed quality. At the same time, the expander increases the efficiency of the downstream pelleting process by up to 50 per cent, enables significant energy savings and reduces the CO₂ footprint.
The hydraulically adjustable cone reportedly allows pressure and temperature to be continuously adjusted during operation, with working pressures from 5 to 120 bar and temperatures from 90 to 130°C – ideal for a wide range of feed applications. In addition, the expander ensures the highest hygiene standards and can replace conventional hygienization processes.
The company lists another benefit as the contribution to animal welfare: Gentle expansion preserves the coarse structure of the feed, which improves the digestion and health of pigs and poultry. For demanding applications such as cattle feed, a special crown outlet enables the production of rumen-stable proteins – ‘undegradable proteins’ (UDP). These ‘bypass proteins’ improve the digestion and thus increase the performance of dairy cows and fattening cattle without affecting their rumen system.
PRECISE CONTROL WITH THE CRUSHING ROLLER MILL
The range is completed by the innovative crushing roller mill WSB 2040.2 with individual drive – a powerful crushing machine designed specifically for the feed industry. The crushing roller mill allows precise adjustment of the feed structure by individually controlling the speed of both rollers and the grinding gap. The result is a uniformly crushed, easily digestible feed that is optimally adapted to the animals’ needs. The crushing roller mill is therefore a central component of modern feed production, Amandus Kahl explains.
In combination with the expander, the crushing roller mill reportedly provide a basis for the production of high-quality animal feed, which promotes animal health and significantly improves feed conversion.
Visitors to IPPE 2025 will have the opportunity to experience the innovative technologies of Amandus Kahl live in Hall A, Stand A533 and see how they aim to shape the future of sustainable feed production.
