Belfast-based animal nutrition company Trouw Nutrition Ireland has walked a half marathon along the Causeway Coast to help raise awareness and support for charity partner AWARE NI.
The scenic walk, from Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge to the Giant’s Causeway, had significant turnout from the team who also got their family and friends involved. Aiming to reach a £10,000 fundraising target by the end of the year, the team at Trouw has been organising a range of activities and events and has seen teams get involved in sea swims, abseiling and a corporate golf competition.
Commenting on the fundraising, Aidan Fisher, General Manager at Trouw Nutrition Ireland said: “We’re incredibly proud of our team and the passion and commitment they have shown to support a charity which not only supports individuals struggling with mental health issues, but also to organisations, equipping them to support their people.”
“At Trouw, our people are at the heart of our company and over the past year we’ve placed a real focus on our Healthy Life Programme and creating a supportive culture where our team’s health, safety and wellbeing is a priority. Our partnership with AWARE NI has enabled us to connect every member of our team to valuable information and services for supporting better wellbeing for life, both in and outside of work which we’re incredibly grateful for,” he added.
“The team at Trouw Nutrition Ireland should be incredibly proud of their fundraising efforts so far. Poor mental health is a significant issue in Northern Ireland and particularly for the agricultural community; the vital funds raised by Trouw will enable us to continue to support people who need it most,” said Lisa Abell-Farrelly, Corporate Partnership Officer at AWARE NI.
Since appointing AWARE NI as their charity partner, Trouw has taken additional steps to recognise the importance of supporting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace by introducing Mental Health First Aid training. Trouw now have seven trained Mental Health First Aiders from different teams across the business, who are a point of contact if colleagues need a chat and can be signposted to additional support.
