The Industry on the Verge of a New Era

Derya Gulsoy Yıldız

As we enter the final quarter of 2025, there is a noticeable flurry of activity in the animal nutrition and health industry. A series of acquisitions, partnerships, investment decisions, and strategic reorganizations indicate that global competition is now shaped not only by products but also by technology, sustainability, and scale.

Notable developments during this period include announcements such as: dsm-firmenich aiming to completely exit the animal nutrition & health business in 2025, the decision by ADM and Alltech to establish a new feed joint venture, Kemin’s acquisition of CJ Bio’s enzyme and fermentation subsidiary CJ Youtell Biotech, and BASF’s search for a strategic partner for its feed enzymes unit. These moves reflect not only the companies’ own growth targets but also the trends of the industry’s future. Competition in enzyme technologies, the quest to increase the effectiveness of functional additives, and the centralization of sustainability in production processes form the fundamental motivations behind these steps.

Similarly, De Heus’ new investments in Asia and Africa reveal that global feed producers are now focusing not only on increasing volume but also on regional diversity and supply chain resilience. These expansion strategies signal a long-term belief in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian market and Africa’s young and dynamic agricultural economies. On the other hand, the phytogenic nutrition partnership between Bewital Agri and MartinBauer indicates that the interest in natural and plant-based solutions is no longer a temporary trend but a permanent paradigm shift.

The collective message of all these developments is this: The sector, which is intensifying its focus on efficiency, innovation, and sustainability, is entering a new era.
