EU authorizes insect proteins in poultry and pig feed
The European Union has authorized the use of processed animal proteins derived from insects (insect PAPs) in poultry and pig feed. The Commission Regulation (EU) 2021/1372 about the act was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The role of technology in production of quality pellets and latest technologies
Many variables affect the pellet quality. We should distinguish between parameters originating from the ingredients and formulation, and process and technology related factors. Technology plays a vital role, as it is directly linked to a feed miller’s objective of producing pellets that are as hard as required and maintain a high and constant throughput while keeping energy costs at the lowest level possible.
Pellet and mash preference in feed production & production technologies
Pellet quality is not only made in the pellet mill. The saying “the chain is as strong as the weakest link” applies also here. Every process step adds to the achieved pellet quality. The finer the particle size after grinding the better the pellet quality, the higher the capacity and the lower the energy consumption at the pellet mill.
Challenging times demand an efficient production strategy
Swine producers face new stresses and persisting global challenges in 2021. Diseases, including COVID-19 and African swine fever, are altering market patterns. Meanwhile, incoming regulations bring additional changes to production practices. Combined, these elements call attention to the economics of swine production and highlight the need for improved efficiency to protect tightening margins.
Bühler and Hosokawa Alpine to collaborate on sustainable plant proteins
Swiss Bühler Group and Hosokawa Alpine Group from Germany have signed a strategic collaboration agreement to accelerate and strengthen the production of healthier and sustainable plant protein solutions.
Hamlet Protein participates in Sino-Danish roundtable for swine industry
Hamlet Protein participated in the Sino-Danish roundtable meeting that focused on opportunities for the swine industry to improve performance, quality, and animal health in pig production.
Replacing zinc in pig production
There is not one single product that can replace the current use of Zinc Oxide. A ZnO free pig production requires improvements in many fields that include farm management, biosecurity, genetics, the health status of the pig and diet composition. Fiber can become a vital part of ZnO free piglet diets.
Milk Specialties begins lactoferrin production
Milk Specialties Global begins lactoferrin production following major infrastructure project at the company’s Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin facility.
TOMRA Food offers safe, fault-free pet food production
TOMRA Food offers a safe and fault-free production by optical sorting technologies for pet food producers.
Pushing the limits of poultry production with seed, feed, weed
“The ‘Seed, Feed, Weed’ concept is a comprehensive programme developed in order to improve the gut health of birds, whether breeder, broiler or layer. Improved performance has been measured across all types of birds, however if good gut health can be established in the breeding population this will provide the biggest benefit to chick and hence bird performance.”
