Rete Clima and Vetos Europe collaborate to decarbonize livestock sector

Rete Clima and Vetos Europe have joined forces to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the livestock sector. The alliance aims to create the opportunity for companies and farmers using Vetos Europe’s feed supplement Anavrin to receive voluntary carbon credits, which can be used to achieve sustainability goals.

Rete Clima and Vetos Europe collaborate to decarbonize livestock sectorAt a decisive moment for the ecological transition, Rete Clima – a technical body and one of the leading realities in Italy in the development of ESG projects for companies – has entered into a technical and market partnership with Vetos Europe, a major international player in the livestock sector

The collaboration project aims to contribute to the decarbonization of the livestock sector through the use in the animal diet of the natural/natural identical feed supplement Anavrin, developed by Vetos Europe. According to the announcement, this natural product is in fact able to reduce the amount of methane produced by ruminants through enteric methanogenesis. Methane is a greenhouse gas up to 28 times more polluting than carbon dioxide, and therefore co-responsible for global warming and global warming, a reduction of it allows for a concrete and measurable reduction in the carbon footprint of raising bulls, calves, dairy and beef cows and sheep.

Gianluigi Sgarbi

“We are thrilled to be able to contribute to the pursuit of sustainability goals through the development of the first project for the creation of Voluntary Carbon Credits in Italy through a partnership with Rete Clima, a leading company in the sector,” commented Gianluigi Sgarbi Partner and COO of Vetos Europe. “This project represents for us the crowning of a dream born years ago aimed at making the world we live in a better place for the future of our children by investing in innovative technologies aimed at protecting our planet using nature and putting the farmer at the center of the project itself.”

According to ISPRA data, enteric fermentation, or the digestive processes of ruminant animals, generates 70.2 percent (as of 2020) of methane emissions in the agriculture sector. Limiting methane emissions is therefore essential to achieve the goals set by the European Commission to reduce greenhouse gases by at least 55 percent by 2030 and emissions neutrality by 2050.

The alliance aims to create the opportunity for companies and farmers using Anavrin to receive voluntary carbon credits that can be used to achieve sustainability goals and to develop innovative synergies focused on promoting environmentally friendly practices, supporting companies on the path to decarbonization to address the action-reporting obligations posed by the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) objectives of companies in each production sector.

Paolo Viganò

“We are very pleased with this ongoing collaboration with Vetos Europe,” commented Paolo Viganò – Founder of Rete Clima. “We strongly believe in the project to reduce the climate impacts of the livestock sector, just as we believe that this reduction of climate-changing emissions can also be enhanced through the creation of carbon credits, tools that Companies in each production sector can then use to neutralize their own climate-changing emissions. This is a project that will have Italy as its primary area of activity and that will surely be able to give a lot of satisfaction to the entire livestock supply chain, making it an active player in decarbonization.”

THE PARTNERSHIP
Vetos Europe, a company in the production and distribution of innovative technologies in the livestock sector, explains it has invested with conviction in research with the aim of developing increasingly advanced solutions to optimize the productivity of livestock farms while reducing the climate impact of the sector. The company stands out precisely for the design of a feed supplement for ruminants, called Anavrin, which contributes substantially to the reduction of methane emissions and CO2 equivalent.

Rete Clima, a technical point of reference for supporting the decarbonization of companies and the development of ESG actions, supports the processes of preparation for the certification of carbon credits, in order to enhance the value of climatically virtuous livestock supply chains. The network’s fifteen years of technical experience reportedly allows for solid and competent support in the development of low-carbon processes and products, as well as in the precise quantification of the carbon benefits of these same processes and products.
