Avian Enterprises, LLC has announced its new product, Avian Migrate® Goose and Bird Repellant, to help poultry producers combat bird flu. With the product, the company aims to offer farmers a new measure for creating bio-security barriers between chickens and infected water fowl.
In recent months, the bird flu pandemic has continued to devastate poultry operations around the world amidst continual outbreaks, tens of millions of birds lost, and skyrocketing egg prices. Avian Enterprises, LLC, an international company that provides bird repellant products for the agricultural industry and others, has developed a new product – Avian Migrate® Goose and Bird Repellant – poised to offer poultry farmers a novel new solution.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have determined that aquatic birds such as– ducks, geese and swans congregating around ponds and other bodies of water near egg producing facilities– carry and spread the virus through their saliva and feces to chicken feed and other grounds where the domestic birds reside. Avian Migrate contains ingredients approved by the EPA, including those found in food products. It is sprayed in a light mist around a facility and grassy areas within 300 feet for protection. Moreover, an InvisiDye® marker, seen only by the targeted birds, adds a visual warning in the 200-400mm spectrum with sensory and visual deterrents. According to the announcement, Avian Migrate® is a new variation on this proven technology, including how it is applied around a target area.
Recently, their Avian Control® product was examined for efficacy and confirmed overwhelmingly effective in a non-peer reviewed study of dairy barn facilities by Ohio State University. A 2025 peer-reviewed study is currently being planned, Avian Enterprises points out.
“The problem is real and spreading and it is imperative that potential solutions be swift and effective,” says Steve Stone, Executive Vice President, Avian Enterprises, LLC. “Our answer is to keep infected birds away while maintaining the health and security of existing chicken populations, placing a veritable bio-barrier between both.”
Over the course of the past five years, Avian Entreprises, LLC has developed and produced a wide range of effective avian deterrent products, including for bird control around airports, farms, orchards, schools, parks and agricultural applications.
“We have 1.2 million chickens and are concerned about avian bird flu. We lost a lot of chickens in 2022 and are trying to control it this year. There are a lot of wild geese and ducks in our area. Once we applied Avian Migrate with InvisiDye we noticed a dramatic change. The geese and ducks stayed away,” expresses Thomas Puglisi, Puglisi Egg Farms of Delaware.
