France-based Techna has celebrated its 60th anniversary and presented its new ambitions. Aligning with these ambitions, the company has revealed that it is investing in digital transformation in livestock farming, improving its knowledge of raw materials and plants, and more.
One of the key players in animal nutrition, Techna has celebrated six decades of expertise and innovation in animal nutrition and natural health. Founded in 1964, the France-based company has pointed out that it has evolved with the demands and needs of the market, while remaining true to its core values. Today, Techna continues to invest significant human, financial and technological resources in research and innovation, in order to offer efficient and sustainable nutritional solutions to the animal production industry. Its aim is to support its partners in improving their performance, while helping them to meet the food challenges of tomorrow.
Techna is now one of France’s leading animal nutrition companies, and boasts a global presence with 8 subsidiaries on several continents. With 320 employees, including 100 outside of France, the company continues to grow, with sales of €85 million, and aims to exceed €90 million by 2025. Techna has conquered a record share of the French animal nutrition market, now accounting for 40% of rabbit feed volumes (using Techna technology), 10% of pig feed, 20% of ruminant feed and 20% of poultry feed, with particularly remarkable performances in turkey (65%) and broiler (30%), according to the company’s statement.
Techna, which has also become a major player on the international scene with a strong presence acquired over the years, shared the following examples of its market share: 10% of dairy cow feed volumes in Ireland, 40% of poultry feed in Morocco, 20% of ruminant feed in Tunisia, 30% of aquaculture feed in Turkey.
“There are twice as many of us today as there were 50 years ago, and we have to feed two billion more people by 2050. This exponential demographic growth, coupled with growing food insecurity over the last decade, represents a colossal challenge. As Winston Churchill said: “There are only five meals between democracy and barbarism”. Faced with this global challenge, Techna is committed to climbing this food Everest by focusing on three pillars: innovation, people and internationalisation. Our aim is to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the livestock industry while meeting environmental challenges, in particular by decarbonising livestock production and reducing its environmental impact,” explained Jean-Marc Pinsault, Managing Director of Techna.
TECHNA’S STRATEGIC ORIENTATIONS TO MEET THE CHALLENGES AND NEEDS OF TOMORROW
To consolidate its position and pursue its development, the company explained that it is investing in:
• Digital transformation in livestock farming, by developing innovative solutions for the continuous, real-time collection and use of livestock farming data in every species and every country. By analysing the performance of animals and their environment in real time, Techna will be able to optimise its nutritional solutions with unrivalled precision by 2025. Techna aims to offer livestock professionals a major lever for improving their performance, while promoting the health and well-being of their animals, while respecting human health and the environment.
• Improving its knowledge of raw materials and plants to encourage the use of local raw materials, reduce imports and cut the carbon footprint of animal feed. Similarly, improving its knowledge of plants should also enable farmers to continue their efforts to demedicate their livestock.
• Developing human capital in its expertise and service businesses: the flagship project is based on the creation of a Techna training school for precision nutrition and natural health. The challenge is a major one: to ensure that knowledge and skills in the field remain at the forefront of the advances made possible by technology and science. It’s also a fantastic way of attracting the best talent, developing it and building employee loyalty.
• The consolidation of its roots in France and its international presence, in particular with the development of Techna regional platforms in Ivory Coast and Turkey, from which the teams export the company’s know-how to neighbouring countries (Mali, Senegal, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, etc.). The recent opening of a subsidiary in India is part of this project of local regional platforms where all its products, services and expertise are available with the same level of quality.
• Employee share ownership will remain at the heart of its policy to cultivate commitment, responsibility and independence.
