Sino-Dutch Dairy Development Centre was handed over to Jingwa Center

The Sino-Dutch Dairy Development Center established by FrieslandCampina, Wageningen University & Research and China Agricultural University was handed over to the Jingwa Science & Technology Innovation Centre.

The Sino-Dutch Dairy Development Center (SDDDC) was established 9 years ago by FrieslandCampina, Wageningen University & Research and China Agricultural University to promote the quality and safety system of the whole dairy chain from Grass to Glass in China. This initiative was very much welcomed by the Chinese dairy industry at that time. Moreover, the “Golden Triangle” innovation model of the Dutch dairy industry was also a reference for the Chinese dairy management departments and scientific and technological workers. From January 1, 2023 on, this Center will be integrated in the Jingwa Science & Technology Innovation Centre under the name of China International Dairy Development Center (CIDDC).

In the future, CIDDC will take over the baton of SDDDC and further build a broader international dairy cooperation and development platform. The Center is ready to train and deliver talents for the industry, provide the Chinese government with expert consultation and support the industrial policy and system optimization. Furthermore, the CIDDC will provide experts and knowledge to Chinese enterprises to solve the challenges the sector faces and will contribute to the revitalization and take-off of China’s dairy industry.

Sino-Dutch Dairy Development Centre was handed over to Jingwa CenterProfessor Li Sheng Li (China Agriculture University), Director SDDDC: “The Jingwa Science & Technology Innovation Centre is honored to be able to incorporate the legacy of the Sino Dutch Dairy Development Center into our new state of the art Campus and Expertise Center. We look forward to continue to build and to develop the Chinese dairy sector even further.”

The initiative is about completing each other in the continuous search for more sustainable and efficient production systems. “The SDDDC has clearly achieved the status of a think tank, the journey we went through over the last 9 years is a great example where cooperation in a sector shows how much can be achieved by joining forces”, said Kees de Koning (Wageningen University & Research), Chairman of the Steering Committee and the Advisory Board of SDDDC.

Jeroen Elfers, Corporate Director Dairy Development & Milkstreams FrieslandCampina, adds: “We are proud and confident that the CIDDC will continue the valuable work of the SDDDC. As humankind we face a huge challenge on how to feed the fast growing world population whilst preserving our planet for next generations. Collaborations like this are key to achieve these challenges.”
