Kemin presents latest findings on poultry gut health and nutrient digestibilityKemin Industries, a global ingredient manufacturer that strives to sustainably transform the quality of life every day for 80 percent of the world with its products and services, presented several abstracts and its chromium solution for poultry at the European Symposium on Poultry (ESPN), one of the most influential gatherings of its kind and the European poultry nutrition industry’s most significant forum for exchanging information, on June 21 – 24.

This year, Kemin became a Diamond Sponsor of the conference, as ESPN aligns with the company’s extensive scientific expertise and wide range of solutions to support poultry performance and health.

Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health – EMENA (Europe, Middle East, North Africa) presented multiple abstracts, showcasing the leading role its innovative solutions LYSOFORTE® EXTEND and CLOSTAT® can offer to poultry, premix and feed producers. These abstracts included some of the latest scientific findings regarding proof of concept and the impact of a nutrient-absorption enhancer on turkey, broiler and layer performance. Other abstracts highlighted the benefits of a novel probiotic on the gut microbiome in pheasants, broilers and laying hens.

“ESPN provided a unique opportunity for us to present Kemin’s scientific and technical achievements in poultry nutrition, while also gaining new scientific insights from various lectures and discussions with industry peers and leading poultry scientists in multiple areas of poultry nutrition,” said Frederika Somers, Business Manager – Monogastrics, Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health – EMENA. “We’re pleased to be participating in an event that brings together poultry research scientists and practitioners and leading speakers from around the world to explore the past, share the present and help forge the future of poultry meat science.”

In tandem with ESPN, Kemin hosted a unique “satellite symposium”. As part of the conference, the satellite symposium focused on the beneficial applications of chromium in poultry. Kemin experts who have intensively studied the actions of chromium shared their knowledge of the novel trace mineral and its unique contributions to more sustainable, profitable poultry production.

Dr. David L. Brautigan, Professor Emeritus of Microbiology, Immunology and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia, United States, also presented the history of chromium in animal feeds; its mode of action; its safety; and the difference between inorganic and organic forms. Mauro Di Benedetto, nutritionist and consultant to the poultry industry, also provided an overview of scientific and commercial research on Kemin’s unique chromium source, KemTRACE™ Chromium, in broilers.

For more than 20 years, Kemin has been a leading global producer of KemTRACE Chromium, a first-of-its-kind, highly bioavailable, organic source of chromium propionate, which delivers a vital energy boost to poultry. KemTRACE Chromium helps birds overcome nutritional challenges when exposed to different kinds of stress by promoting higher intracellular glucose uptake, supporting optimal production and profitability.
