Danisco Animal Nutrition now part of IFF, announced that the U.S.-based Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) has reviewed its poultry probiotic Enviva® Provalen Plus and it is now included in the OMRI Products Lists©.
Enviva® Provalen Plus is used in the production in the livestock feed ingredients to help support the needs of the organic poultry markets. It is “allowed with restrictions” for use in compliance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Organic Program. The use restrictions are important qualifications developed by OMRI to provide producers in certified organic systems with guidance to ensure they use the product in a manner that is compliant with the standards.
Enviva® Provalen Plus is a five-strain Bacillus probiotic feed additive for poultry litter management. The additive comprises two distinct groups of bacteria with unique properties:
– Three strains of enzyme-producing bacteria selected specifically to digest poultry manure, thus promoting the natural drying of litter.
– Two unique strains of bioactive peptide-producing bacteria selected for inhibition of specific bacterial populations in the litter, like coli and C. perfringens, thereby maintaining lower ammonia levels and lower bacterial challenge.
Enviva® Provalen Plus has a dual mode of action that inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the litter, while also reducing environmental impact, improving the quality by reducing undigested nutrients and promoting beneficial bacteria. The product is proven to be the best natural, in-feed litter control product to constantly support live production managers in their day-to-day operations. Good litter conditions lead to improved health and performance of the birds.
“Our Danisco Animal Nutrition team has extensively analyzed litter samples to confidently say that Enviva® Provalen Plus is the best natural litter solution for the commercial poultry house,” said Dawn Overby, global segment manager, Danisco Animal Nutrition, IFF. “With this OMRI listing, live production managers can be assured that that they are using a superior solution that is compliant with organic standards and will benefit their organic production.”
