The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) announced that it has hired Alison Harris as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, a newly created role for the nonprofit organization. Harris oversees GSA’s Market Development and Outreach teams and reports to GSA CEO Brian Perkins.

“GSA’s mission is to build trust in seafood,” says GSA CEO Brian Perkins. “With this new position, we are demonstrating our commitment to advance and promote the responsible seafood practices that ensure we have a vibrant market today and in the future.”

In this role, Harris will expand the adoption of GSA’s wild seafood certification and farmed seafood certification. She also will work closely with GSA’s partners – feed mills, hatcheries, fisheries, farms, vessels, seafood processors and seafood retailers – to increase collaboration among partners and create benefits for those that adopt responsible seafood practices.

“We can feed the world with seafood for many years to come through responsible seafood production and sourcing,” said Harris. “I am proud to highlight GSA’s advocacy, education and assurances and to bring current and new partners to the table to effect positive change. We have done amazing work, and there is so much more ahead that we can do together.”

Harris has extensive experience helping companies expand their reach and presence by communicating their strengths and value and building long-lasting relationships. Her prior experience includes expanding a business-to-business media company, business development for a government contact center BPO, and serving as a fractional CMO for numerous growth-oriented businesses. She lives in Maine and works out of GSA’s Portsmouth, N.H., headquarters.
