NEWS 110 FEED & ADDITIVE MAGAZINE July 2025 Cargill is further strengthening its presence in Mindanao, the Philippines, with a new feed production partnership with Biotech, a state-of-theart facility located at the Biotech Agro-Industrial Complex in Tantangan, South Cotabato, where the partners also held a ribbon cutting ceremony. Cargill explains that this strategic collaboration reflects its continued investment in one of the country’s most vital agricultural regions, aimed at delivering faster, more reliable, and high-quality feed solutions to better serve customers. Mindanao is one of the most dynamic agricultural regions in the Philippines and home to a growing base of animal farmers, producers, and agribusinesses. By establishing a dedicated production line at the Tantangan Plant, Cargill aims to strengthen its foothold in the region and the country’s food system. “This is about serving our Mindanao customers better — with the reliability, responsiveness, and quality they deserve,” said Sonny Catacutan, Senior Managing Director for Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health Philippines. “The Tantangan Plant gives us a stronger presence in a region essential to the future of the local agricultural industry. It allows us to enhance service to our customers and live our purpose of nourishing the world starting with every bag of feed. We’re excited about what this partnership brings, not just in operational capability, but in helping us create more impact for customers, farmers, and communities that depend on us every day.” Read more>> Cargill strengthens feed production with new partnership in Philippines Photo: Cargill The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) announced it will channel €5.6m in funding to its Ocean Stewardship Fund, which helps fisheries advance their sustainability, by 2030. The announcement was made by Chief Executive Rupert Howes at MSC’s event “Towards a Blue Food Future: Accelerating the Transition to Sustainable Fishing for Food Security, Governance, and Global Collaboration” at the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) in Nice, France, held from 9 to 13 June 2025. The third United Nations Ocean Conference marks a pivotal moment for global action to protect and sustainably manage the ocean—at a time when it is more urgent than ever. Our oceans are under increasing pressure from climate change, overfishing, and biodiversity loss, all exacerbated by a growing global population and rising demand for seafood. Increasing funding to support sustainable fishing is essential. Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water, one of the 17 goals established by the United Nations as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, remains the least funded Sustainable Development Goal, receiving less than 0.01% of total sustainable development funding. Since its creation in 2019, the Ocean Stewardship Fund has awarded more than €7.7 million to support over 200 fisheries and projects worldwide, including nearly 90 in developing economies. These initiatives range from marine wildlife protection to the trial of new technologies and the promotion of more sustainable fishing practices.
