This expansion, driven by a significant investment in advanced production technology, will enhance capacity and efficiency while reinforcing CFEED’s commitment to sustainability, according to the announcement. The new facility is set to open on August 20, 2025, following the completion of construction in early August. The company points out that this expansion will establish CFEED as the world’s leading controlled-environment copepod production facility, significantly increasing capacity and creating new job opportunities for the local community. It will also strengthen CFEED’s position as the top global producer of hatchery-stage feed for marine fish larvae. "This project strengthens our presence in the aquaculture market and ensures a sustainable, cutting-edge production facility that can scale efficiently. Due to organic growth in recent years, CFEED made a strategic decision two years ago to expand its production capabilities. The company specializes in hatchery-stage live feed, producing Acartia tonsa copepods for over 15 species, including sea bream cod, grouper, seriola, seabass, tuna, and more. Read more>> CFEED expands aquafeed production with investment Perstorp announced that the animal nutrition focused plant in Waspik, the Netherlands officially reduced its direct emissions (Scope 1 & 2) to report zero over 2024. The company points out that this is the first Perstorp location with this exceptional distinction. To be able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Perstorp Waspik has taken several steps including replacing all fossil fuel forklift trucks with electric ones and all lighting by LED. Additionally, all the natural gas used for heating has been replaced by biogas, and 100% of electricity used is renewable. Energy consumption in heating and electricity are the two largest factors affecting Scope 1 & 2. Perstorp Waspik is already looking at next steps to further reduce its environmental footprint. “Perstorp is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its business activities.
