NEWS 8 FEED & ADDITIVE MAGAZINE November 2024 As emerging technologies and advances in animal nutrition bring more precision to livestock production, AgroCares and Trouw Nutrition, Nutreco’s livestock feed business, announced the renewal of their NutriOpt On-site Adviser agreement. Launched in 2018 and subsequently enhanced with species-specific knowledge, NutriOpt On-site Adviser is explained as an easy-to-use mobile resource that provides fast, reliable data to inform nutrient and quality assurance decisions. The collaboration pairs Trouw Nutrition’s institutional knowledge and nutrient database with AgroCares’ proprietary portable Near InfraRed (NIR) scanner technology. By leveraging each partner’s expertise, the collaboration aims to provide real-time, comprehensive nutritional insights that can directly benefit farms’ and feed mills’ operational efficiencies, economics and sustainability efforts. Leveraging Trouw Nutrition’s extensive nutrient knowledge and database, the NutriOpt On-Site Adviser can reportedly assess raw ingredients and finished feed for a specific species in less than five minutes. Species-specific nutrients are available for swine, ruminants, and poultry. New hardware developed and manufactured by AgroCares empowers farmers and feed producers to apply the nutrient profile of raw materials, silages and complete feed to make species-specific decisions. Created in 2017, Altar is expected to complement Lesaffre's existing know-how and technologies to boost the group's capacity of innovation in fermentation and microorganisms. Altar developed in the last years a technology enabling the continuous, uninterrupted cultivation of microorganisms' cultures under controlled conditions to select strains with specific properties, for as long as required. The startup offers access to its technology, platform and associated knowhow through collaborative projects or research services. Thanks to the high maturity of their approach of ALE, Altar reportedly has a high degree of precision and control over their technology, which is directly linked to the team's know-how and the R&D assets they developed. "At Lesaffre, we are driven by an unwavering belief in the infinite possibilities of fermentation," says Brice-Audren Riché, CEO of Lesaffre.
