NEWS 92 FEED & ADDITIVE MAGAZINE July 2024 AFIA opens early-bird registrations for 2024 Liquid Feed Symposium The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) announced that the registration for its annual Liquid Feed Symposium (LFS) have opened, which will be held September 10-12 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to highly regarded speakers and learn about topics like methane mitigation, market outlooks, legislative and regulatory updates and other current issues impacting the liquid feed industry. “If you are involved in the liquid feed industry, then LFS is the place to be this fall for quality education and networking,” says Paul Davis, Ph.D., AFIA’s director of quality, animal food safety and education. The symposium, hosted by AFIA’s Liquid Feed Committee, focuses on current issues, growth, education and development specifically geared toward the liquid feed industry. AFIA notes that the largest and longest-running event of its kind, it is designed to appeal to all segments of the liquid feed industry, including manufacturers, nutritionists, equipment manufacturers, sales and marketing, and additional industry support companies. In addition, the AFIA inducts one of the industry leaders into the Liquid Feed Hall of Fame each year at the symposium. The Liquid Feed Hall of Fame recognizes and honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the science and growth of the liquid feed industry. Read more>> U.S. Soy - Nigeria partnership explores potential for utilization of soy in animal feed Agribusiness leaders, U.S. Soy leadership, and experts gathered in Lagos, Nigeria for the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC)’s annual 'Nigeria: Now 2024' conference on June 4. Topics included the importance of sustainable food systems to achieve food and nutrition security, innovation and technology used by U.S. Soy farmers to increase productivity, and the potential for utilization of soy in the animal feed sector to improve access to food for many in Nigeria. Reflecting on U.S. Soy and Nigeria’s partnership, Jim Sutter, CEO of USSEC, said: “U.S. Soy recognizes the incredible resilience, grit and dedication of Nigeria’s people. We look forward to further strengthening our partnerships and trust in trade to achieve our shared vision of a vibrant and food-secure future for Nigeria’s expanding population.” Nigeria is growing, with 50 percent of its population under the age of 19 and a current GDP of $472.62 billion. However, food production has not kept pace with the population surge.
