Pieter Steyn, global technical commercial manager at Selko, and Marcos Rostagno, R&D director, joined “Salmonella from Feed to Food, Prepare for the Unexpected”, a moderated conversation exploring Salmonella risk factors at the farm and feed production facility and presenting management practices to help support safety in raw ingredients, feed, and food. The one-hour webinar discussed complex factors in the current environment that are contributing to Salmonella challenges for stakeholders across the value chain. Selko explained that the topics covered included: • What challenges are elevating Salmonella pressures in 2024 • How Salmonella affects livestock production among species and in various production environments • Raw material ingredients in animal feed that pose special concern • Early warning signs that may indicate an issue on the farm or at the feed mill • The importance of knowing the health status of previous flocks/herds on a farm • Farm-level and feed mill practices that can help keep Salmonella out of the feed-to-food chain • Implementing a holistic strategy across the farm/feed facility support feed-to-food-safety • Participants’ questions Read more>> French agricultural consortium to support reducing carbon footprint in China Cooperl, Nor-Feed, Asserva, Mg2Mix and Lallemand Animal Nutrition, all members of the Low Carbon Agriculture Consortium exhibiting at the Cahe Exhibition in Nanchang China, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, formalizing a mutualized initiative to promote their solutions for a more sustainable agriculture, to meet the demand of consumers and food manufacturers looking for food with a lower environmental impact. Created in March 2023 on the initiative of Sitia Robotique and Nor-Feed, with the support of Stratexio, the Low-carbon agriculture Consortium gathers a number of French SMEs in the agricultural sector wishing to promote and develop their products and services on an international scale. The consortium is organised into two divisions (animal production and plant production) and currently comprises 12 members, suppliers of products, services or equipment to the agricultural world. They are all "taking concrete action to reduce the impact of agriculture on the environment", says Yann Morel, CEO of Cooperl Asia. To join the consortium, "companies have to demonstrate an objective approach: product life cycle analysis, corporate social responsibility commitment, B-Corp certification, etc..." adds Olivier Clech, CEO of Nor-Feed.
