NEWS FEED & ADDITIVE MAGAZINE June 2024 97 Pets Choice acquires Vet’s Kitchen Nutreco unveils sustainability reporting and emissions reduction plan Pets Choice Ltd, one of the leading pet food manufacturers, unveiled that it agreed to purchase Pets’ Kitchen Ltd’s premium pet food brand, Vet’s Kitchen, taking over responsibility of Sales as from 1st June 2024. The Vet’s Kitchen brand, which primarily operates in dry dog & cat food will join Pets Choice’s family of pet brand offerings, which include Webbox, Bob Martin, Felight, TastyBone and B-Calm. Whilst Pets Choice is purchasing the pet food division, this will enable Pets’ Kitchen Ltd to concentrate on the development of their clinical veterinary practices under their Vet’s Klinic brand. A long-term collaboration agreement between the two companies will continue in support of both the Vet’s Kitchen and Vet’s Klinic operations. Pets Choice supplies partners in the grocery, independent, and pet speciality sectors and eCommerce with products in a variety of formats. The company plans to use this latest acquisition to grow its share of the premium and advanced nutrition sectors. The sale also allows Pets Choice to increase its reach within the veterinary channel, and to benefit from Vet’s Klinic’s professional expertise, as the practices will continue to provide consultation services regarding new product development and recipe updates. This partnership-led approach to the sale also means that the two businesses can work together to deliver Vet’s Kitchen’s popular pet clubs activity in the future too. “This is a fantastic acquisition for Pets Choice as we continue our drive in both product premiumisation and into the Vet Sector. We’re excited to onboard the Vet’s Kitchen team and pair their knowledge with our own,” CEO of Pets Choice, Tony Raeburn comments. This will enable Nutreco to provide its stakeholders with more up-to-date, regular and timely information about the progress it is making on its sustainability RoadMap. Nutreco is currently implementing a new emissions reduction plan across the company, designed to ensure it can meet its current SBTi target of 30% CO2 emissions reduction by 2030 (from a 2018 base year), despite seeing an overall 2,5% increase in scope 1 and 2 emissions for 2023. This latest result was due to both a decrease in energy efficiency (CO2 per ton produced) and an increase in sold tons. Read more>>
