The dairy feed production of Middle East, which was 6.5 million tons in 2021, increased by 7.1% in 2022 to 6.9 million tons. Layer feeds rank second in Africa's feed production. The dairy feed production of Africa, which was 9.5 million tons in 2021, decreased by 3.3% in 2022 to 9.2 million tons. According to the Alltech report, Kenya reported a 42.5% (0.3 MMT) reduction in layer feed tonnage because of high production costs. Over 40 layer producers have closed their operations there in recent months. Dairy feeds rank third in feed production in Africa.
