NEWS FEED & ADDITIVE MAGAZINE March 2021 7 N utreco announced its in- vestment in Norwegian land-based fish farming compa- ny, Proximar. Strategically located near the iconic Mount Fuji, Prox- imar’s Atlantic salmon farming facility will be a large-scale land- based fish farm helping to meet the large demand for salmon in Japan, using Recirculating Aqua- culture System (RAS) technology. “OUR MISSION OF FEEDING THE FUTURE...” “Our investment in Proximar is perfectly aligned with our mission of Feeding the Future. Japan has a large market and demand for Atlantic salmon in addition to limited possibilities for sea-based production, plac- ing a large dependency on im- ports from other countries and increasing the environmental cost,” Nutreco CEO Rob Kore- mans commented. Local land-based salmon pro- duction allows high quality fresh salmon to be produced closer to the consumer all the while re- ducing the CO2 footprint from airfreight, thereby reducing the entry cost to the market and securing fresher salmon for the consumer. Biovet International Symposium to be held on March 18 B iovet S.A. will hold the Biovet International Symposium 2021 on March 18. In this year’s event, recent studies on preservatives, mycotoxin bind- ers and enzymes will be presented. The Symposium 2021 will be held at 8:30 am (Spain time zone) in English; and at 3:30 pm (Spain time zone) in Spanish. The Biovet International Symposium, an interna- tional forum created to discuss the quality of feed for animals intended for human consumption, is the space designed to disseminate and present the results of these studies to distributors, customers and collaborators. During the one-day event, the results of a new solution tested in poultry to reduce microbial load will be presented. The presence of such microorgan- isms in products for human consumption poses a threat for public health. In addition, a trial about preservatives will be pre- sented. The test was recently carried out in a pig farm and it studies the impact of the intestinal wel- fare improvement on production parameters. The importance of a multifactorial approach in the fight against mycotoxins will also be discussed, with the use of mycotoxin binders that prevent the absorption of these toxins and, at the same time, promote detoxification of the organism. Finally, different enzymatic products for the digestion of carbohydrates in diets for broilers will be compared.
