NEWS 22 FEED & ADDITIVE MAGAZINE March 2021 Virbac opens first warm water aquaculture R&D Center in Vietnam V irbac inaugurated Aqua- culture Technology Center, its first research and de- velopment center dedicated to warm water aquaculture in the Dong Nai province in Vietnam. “With the opening of this new research and development center in Vietnam, we intend to offer innovative solutions to support the advancement of warm water aquaculture and anticipate the rise of this sector by working hand in hand with local players who are experts in this field. Vietnam is indeed an important aqua- culture country, rich in warm water species, and concerned by aquaculture diseases also present in other countries. This loca- tion allows us to carry out, from Vietnam, studies on locally identified pathogenic mi- croorganisms that can be used to develop vaccine and therapeutic solutions that can be exported to support IFF obtains OMRI listing for Enviva® Provalen Plus E nviva® Provalen Plus is used in the production in the livestock feed ingredi- ents to help support the needs of the organic poultry markets. It is “allowed with restrictions” for use in compliance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Organic Pro- gram. The use restrictions are im- portant qualifications developed by OMRI to provide producers in certified organic systems with guidance to ensure they use the product in a manner that is com- pliant with the standards. Enviva® Provalen Plus is a five- strain Bacillus probiotic feed ad- ditive for poultry litter manage- ment. The additive comprises two distinct groups of bacteria with unique properties: - Three strains of enzyme-pro- ducing bacteria selected specif- ically to digest poultry manure, thus promoting the natural dry- ing of litter. - Two unique strains of bioactive peptide-producing bacteria select- ed for inhibition of specific bacte- rial populations in the litter, like coli and C. perfringens, thereby maintaining lower ammonia levels and lower bacterial challenge. Enviva® Provalen Plus has a dual mode of action that inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the litter, while also reducing environmental impact, improv- ing the quality by reducing un- digested nutrients and promoting beneficial bacteria. The product is proven to be the best natural, in-feed litter control product to constantly support live produc- tion managers in their day-to-day operations. Good litter condi- tions lead to improved health and performance of the birds. Danisco Animal Nutrition, now part of IFF, announced that the U.S.-based Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) has reviewed its poultry probiotic Enviva® Provalen Plus and it is now included in the OMRI Products Lists©.
