NEWS 18 FEED & ADDITIVE MAGAZINE March 2021 Bühler introduces PolyCool 1000 for plant-based meat B ühler announced the launch of PolyCool 1000, a high-performance cooling die that, together with an extruder, provides an efficient and flexible solution for food producers cre- ating tasty and sustainable plant- based meat or fish alternatives. Extrusion is a highly versatile process that can be applied to a wide range of plant-based raw materials to create tasty meat or fish alternatives. An integral part of the process is the cooling die. With PolyCool 1000, Bühler adds a new high-performance cooling die to its range. Cooling dies work with extru- sion technology to enable the creation of attractive meat or fish substitutes with structures and textures that closely resemble an- imal-based meat products such as chicken, fish, or beef. With the PolyCool 1000 cooling die in combination with an extruder, it is possible to produce wet-tex- tured proteins based on a wide range of raw materials including soy, pulses, oilseeds, upcycled side streams like brewer spent grains, as well as newer ingredients such as microalgae, at throughputs of up to 1,000 kilograms per hour. Alltech and DLG join forces for Scandinavian market Alltech and DLG announced joint venture focused on providing advanced animal nutrition to Scandinavian market. G lobal animal nutrition lead- ers Alltech and DLG Group (DLG) are joining forces for a sec- ond time, with a focus on delivering greater profitability and efficiency to livestock producers in Scandina- via. Alltech and DLG are finalizing the purchase of Finnish company Kärki-Agri, a joint venture that will strengthen their delivery of innova- tive, field-proven animal nutrition. This collaboration follows the successful 2017 joint venture un- dertaken by Alltech and DLG of AV Nutrismart Holdings, a pre- mix business based in Orenburg, Russia. The companies will each hold a 50 percent share in the Kärki-Agri joint venture, located in Seinäjoki, Finland. Kärki-Agri was founded in 1996 and specializes in serving Finn- ish cattle and dairy farms. Their offerings include animal health products, specialty feeds and feed preservatives. The company also opened a premix plant in 2015, where they produce custom feeds and Nutrilix specialty blocks.
