NEWS 86 FEED & ADDITIVE MAGAZINE January 2023 QRILL Pet partners with Chinese pet food brand Fullpet Cherkizovo Group sells marketable egg production facility Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s largest meat producer, announces the sale of JSC Bashkir Poultry Farm. The facility, which was acquired in December this year along with other assets of Russian Grain Ufa, produces marketable eggs, and as such is not aligned with the Cherkizovo's business. AIC Mikhailovsky, part of Cherkizovo Group, signed an agreement on Thursday, December 15, to sell 100 % of JSC Bashkir Poultry Farm. The buyer was Agricultural Asset Management LLC. The deal was closed for a total cash consideration of RUB 2 billion (US$29,4 million). JSC Bashkir Poultry Farm had been acquired by Cherkizovo Group on December 8 along with other assets of Russian Grain Ufa, the largest poultry producer in Bashkortostan. Cherkizovo Group won an open auction for all of the seller's assets: poultry farms, meat processing facilities, a feed mill, and agricultural land. Bashkir Poultry Farm specializes in marketable eggs production, which is not in line with Cherkizovo Group's business profile. Hence, the Company decided to sell this asset and quickly found the buyer. The poultry farm is the leading supplier of marketable eggs in the region: its annual capacity reaches 750 million eggs. The poultry farm’s products are sold across 13 Russian regions in the Volga, Urals, Central, and Southern Federal Districts. Read more>> QRILL Pet, part of the Antarctic krill-harvesting company Aker BioMarine, announced that it has partnered with Fullpet Co., one of the largest pet food manufacturers in China. Being one of the largest pet food manufacturers in China, Fullpet is poised for market success and together with QRILL Pet, will continue to explore areas of scientific research, technology, and consumer insight. The partnership will focus on the customization of raw materials, sharing best-in-class practices from both parties to jointly promote the development of pet health food. The agreement was signed during the 5th annual China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai earlier December 2022. This is the second time QRILL Pet and Fullpet Co. signed an agreement, the first time the brands entered into a partnership was during the 4th CIIE event in 2021. At the moment, Fullpet utilizes QRILL in its tailor-made pet staple foods, which not only effectively improved the nutritional value and functional performance of pet food but also won the recognition and support of consumers in China. China is the world's largest market for marine ingredients and it is an important strategic growth area for QRILL Pet (and Aker BioMarine). One of the key factors for the brand's development in the Chinese market is having a local team that consists of well-experienced professionals within the pet food industry in the region.
