The partnership will serve a variety of plant-based food and beverage markets to meet savory, sweet and dairy customer needs. Through the collaboration, ADM will process and commercialize a portfolio of proprietary ingredients derived from Benson Hill Ultra-High Protein (UHP) soybeans through an exclusive North American licensing partnership. The collaboration will scale innovative ingredients enabled by Benson Hill genetics that feature less-processed proteins with significant water and carbon sustainability benefits, representing an exciting new frontier in taste, texture, nutrition, and functionality for alternative protein solutions. “We’re excited to launch this collaboration with Benson Hill, building full seed-to-fork capabilities with cutting-edge technologies that will allow us to offer new, innovative products to our alternative protein customers,” said Leticia Gonçalves, ADM’s president of Global Foods. ADM, Benson Hill partner to meet growing protein demand Benchmark, a leading aquaculture biotechnology company, announced that it has appointed Preben Matre as Commercial Lead for its Animal Health business area, focusing on sea lice solutions. Matre, previously Northern Europe Regional Manager at ACE Aquatec, has been appointed to lead the commercialization of Benchmark’s recently launched sea lice medicine Ectosan® Vet and CleanTreat® in Northern Europe, with a particular focus on Norway. He will report to Geir Olav Melingen, Commercial Director Salmon in Benchmark. Sea lice adversely affect fish health and welfare while also carrying a risk to wild salmon stocks, costing the industry approximately $1bn annually. In 2021, Norwegian authorities approved the use of Ectosan® Vet with CleanTreat®, representing a significant milestone for Benchmark, and the industry, after over 10 years of research and development. The appointment of Matre demonstrates the confidence of Benchmark in the commercialization of Ectosan® Vet and CleanTreat® in Northern Europe. After joining the company on 1st August, Matre said: “I am looking greatly forward to working with the Benchmark team to develop innovative solutions that can play an active role in solving the challenge of sea lice for fish farmers.
