More than 55 years ago, the veterinarian Dr H. W. Niemeyer started his business with one primary focus in mind: ‘Prevention instead of medication’ – a motto that still applies today! The young company began producing premixes for the feed industry. It was clear that the basic prerequisite for a healthy, high-performing animal is an optimal supply of nutrition through its feed. Therefore, Dr Niemeyer began producing premixes in a small garage, with no idea of what his company would go on to become. The name MIAVIT was created from the ingredients he used: Minerals, Amino acids and Vitamins. Over time, the production of premixes for the compound feed industry became MIAVIT’s core business. But today’s premix production is much more than just a simple process of mixing one or more additives with a carrier. It all begins with clearly defined, controlled purchasing logistics ensuring that the goods requested meet all the specifications, are of the best possible quality and arrive at the right time. MIAVIT is committed to only using high-quality raw materials from reliable, certified suppliers. The raw materials and final products are regularly tested by in-house laboratory services and certified external laboratories, as well as by the German monitoring authorities. For certain raw materials, lab analyses have to be carried out before production starts to ensure they meet quality standards or do not contain undesired substances. Nowadays, MIAVIT monitors almost 1000 raw materials using a barcode system. This guarantees traceability and avoids mixing mistakes, as only components with a barcode following the recipe are allowed to enter the mixing process. MIAVIT runs several separate production lines, each with its own individual purpose.
