Biosolutions company unveils its new CEO

Denmark-based company that produces sustainable ingredients for the feed and food industries, Algiecel has announced the appointment of Susanne Palsten Buchardt as its new CEO.

A company that offers biosolutions for decarbonization, Algiecel has announced that Susanne Palsten Buchardt will be stepping into the role of CEO, succeeding founder Henrik Busch-Larsen.

Buchardt brings with her a track record in Biosolutions, having led major global businesses at Novonesis, with revenues of €300M, and building high-performing international teams. Her career spans key roles in renewable energy at Ørsted, as well as over a decade of experience in Management Consulting with IBM, PA Consulting Group and Bain.

“I am passionate about advancing the green transition and, having been part of the Algiecel journey for the past 1.5 years, I am confident in the enormous potential of micro-algae as a sustainable ingredient for feed, food, and cosmetics. I look forward to unlocking its full potential together with our amazing team,” said Susanne Palsten Buchardt. “I also want to express my gratitude to Henrik for our close collaboration and thank Chair Tina Moe and the Board for their trust in me to lead Algiecel’s next phase of growth.”

Henrik Busch-Larsen, Algiecel’s Founder, will remain actively involved as a member of the Board and take on the role of Chief Visionary Officer to ensure a smooth transition and continue guiding the company’s strategic direction.

“Since Susanne joined Algiecel, she has played a crucial role in shaping the company’s strategy and driving its commercial and organizational progress. Making the transition now is a testament to Susanne’s strength and demonstrates how far we have come in a very short time, and it should serve as a strong signal about our future ambitions. She is the perfect fit to lead Algiecel through the exciting scaling journey ahead,” expressed Busch-Larsen.

Susanne’s extensive experience in leading large-scale businesses, combined with her deep understanding of biosolutions, the food value chain, and renewable energy, positions her perfectly to take Algiecel to the next level.”

Susanne Palsten Buchardt is based in Copenhagen with her husband and two children. In addition to her new role at Algiecel, she will continue her responsibilities as Chair of Norfalk (bio-based surfactants for HomeCare and PersonalCare) and as a Venture Partner at PSV Hafnium, deep tech VC fund.
