AFIA calls for new research, industry leaders for 2025 Pet Food Conference

The Pet Food Conference (PFC) will be held in conjunction with IPPE on January 28, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia, US. The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has announced that it will be accepting nominations for the Friend of Pet Food Award, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the industry, until October 28, 2024. The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) is now accepting nominations for the prestigious Friend of Pet Food Award and applications for student research to be presented at the upcoming AFIA Pet Food Conference (PFC). The PFC will take place on January 28, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, US, in conjunction with the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE).

Launched in 2019, the Friend of Pet Food award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to support the growth of the pet food industry. An ideal nominee will be currently employed and active in the pet food industry or an associated area, such as new product development, transportation, regulatory, academia, media or promotion.

“The Friend of Pet Food Award is a special recognition for someone who has played an instrumental role in moving the industry forward,” said Louise Calderwood, AFIA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs. “We encourage our members and industry colleagues to nominate those who have made a lasting impact on improving pet nutrition.”

The awardee will be invited to attend and be publicly recognized at PFC.

In addition, the AFIA seeks outstanding undergraduate, graduate or post-doctoral students to showcase their research to key industry leaders at the PFC. Undergraduate students are invited to apply to participate in a poster session, which will take place during the conference, and graduate and post-doctoral students can apply for the opportunity to present their research during the day-long conference.

“We are thrilled to offer this platform for students to present their work to such a large and influential audience in the pet food industry,” expressed Calderwood. “This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain exposure, share their innovative ideas and connect with professionals who are passionate about hiring those who will shape the future of pet nutrition.”

Submissions will be reviewed and selected by members of AFIA’s Pet Food Committee based on relevance to the pet food industry and quality of the written submission. Applications for student presentations are due to Calderwood by Monday, November 4.
